Contracted out the painting of our family home to prepare it for rental purposes. Painter was the cheapest of three quotes and seemed okay at the start. As time went on, he seemed to be doing less and less and spending little time at the property. As we had other trades to come in, we were held up by two weeks over what he estimated it would take to complete the job. All the excuses in the world starting coming up.
Had to let him go after 90% of the job was done and told him to remove his equipment (and paid him in full). Luckily we got the keys back and thought that was the end of it but then he started with the abusive phone calls and I had to call the police and make a report in the end.
